Hijab or no Hijab?
I love wearing my hijab and I feel like I can express myself in it! I know not all my Muslim sisters don't wear the hijab and that's OK! It is absolutely your choice.
I wear my hijab to show my devotion towards Allah (swt) and I love the feeling knowing that I am being looked at for being myself and no one can take that away from me.
I know the transition to wearing the hijab is emotionally, mentally, physically and somewhat spiritually changing. I started wearing my hijab on and off when I was a child and when it came to the end of 8th grade when I was 14 is when I officially started wearing the hijab.
I used to think my real friends would accept me, but they didn't. They started ignoring me in the beginning of 9th grade. I knew the difference between the people that were "real" and "fake".
My family supported me 110% and I couldn't have been happier. You'll know the people that are their for you when you start wearing the hijab and the people who accept you also.
Once you come over the obstacle of the transition, believe me you won't regret anything!
I know people are still going to stare and you might feel awkward, but you won't care about that in the long run.
One thing my dad told me was "when you are wearing the hijab you are so beautiful. One of the most beautiful thing I have ever seen" and that right there was so touching!
I thought no one could see my beauty under the hijab, but it is still noticeable. That made me not worry about anything after that.
If you feel like your friends won't accept you or other people, just forget about them. You do not need those people in your life, but if they really mean something to you, increase their knowledge about Islam or the hijab.
InshAllah Allah (swt) will reward you for this in the long run. Trust me you won't regret it.
Please tell me your transition stories or tell me what problems you might have.
